THINGS TO DO
Addo Elephant National Park
A must-visit destination is the renowned Addo Elephant National Park, home to over 600 elephants, along with buffaloes, rhinos, and a wide variety of other species. The nature reserve spans approx. 1,640 square kilometers and is located just a 90-minute drive from The Ocean Bay. Exploring the park in your own car typically takes around 6 hours.
Tsitsikamma National Park
The Tsitsikamma National Park, is a 30 km long costal district. The steep rocks are very impressive, the clear water of the Indian Ocean, the plants and animals will fill you with enthusiasm. Hiking tours are very famous here. Bungee-Jumping and the lovely Storms River are just some highlights in this breathtaking area.
Schotia Private Game Reserve
The Schotia Private Game Reserve, just 90 minutes from Jeffreys Bay, is one of our special offers. All the animals here are wild and must hunt for themselves—no feeding by humans. You’ll explore in open Jeeps, and with some luck, witness lions hunting. In the evening, dine with rangers in a cozy Lapa by open fires.
Dunes of Jeffreys Bay
The Gamtoos River Mouth Nature Reserve is just 15 minutes from Jeffreys Bay, or you can walk there along the beach. The dunes reach up to 15 meters, giving the area a desert-like feel. You can rent a canoe, fish, swim, or relax on the beach. You might spot monkeys, and from August to December, whales visit the bay.
Golf
South Africa is a top golf destination, offering fantastic courses paired with stunning views, all at a high standard. One of the most beautiful courses is St. Francis Links in St. Francis Bay, just a 35-minute drive from The Ocean Bay. We also offer special golf tours across the country—ask us for details.
Baviaanskloof
The Baviaanskloof, just 45 minutes via the N2 or R332, spans 218,000 hectares, making it one of South Africa’s largest nature reserves. The rugged terrain includes three mountain ranges, two rivers, and protected areas. A 150 km rough track winds through this wilderness, home to 58 mammal species and 293 bird species.
Whale Watching
Jeffreys Bay, South Africa, offers incredible whale-watching opportunities from July to December. Southern Right and Humpback whales migrate along the coast, often coming close to shore. You can spot them from the beach or join a boat tour for a closer view. It’s a must-see experience for nature lovers!
Beach Horse Rides
You can book a 2-3 hour ride, spanning around 13km, from Papiesfontein to the Gamtoos River. This beautiful route takes you across stunning dunes next to the water, where you’ll have the chance to gallop through the invigorating waves of the Indian Ocean, experiencing breathtaking coastal views.
